I'm giving this film five stars because I want viewers to give it a chance. Giants Being Lonely is a divisive coming-of-age film with a dreamlike narrative and editing structure, much more reminiscent of 70s new wave films than the usual films getting made today, that grips you and doesn't let go. I'm telling you, the first ten minutes went by in a snap. I wouldn't say it's perfect, but it's the kind of bold and adventurous indie film that allows audiences to be excited for the next generation of filmmaking. Yes, there's a baseball player on the cover, but don't go into this expecting The Sandlot.
