About this movie

Teenage Rockhopper penguin Cody Maverick, an up-and-coming surfer, enters his first pro competition. Followed by a camera crew to document his experiences, Cody leaves his family and home in Shiverpool, Antarctica to travel to Pen Gu Island for the Big Z Memorial Surf Off. Along the way, Cody meets Sheboygan surfer Chicken Joe, famous surf promoter Reggie Belafonte, surf talent scout Mikey Abromowitz, and spirited lifeguard Lani Aliikai, all of whom recognize Cody's passion for surfing, even if it's a bit misguided at times. Cody believes that winning will bring him the admiration and respect he desires, but when he unexpectedly comes face-to-face with a washed-up old surfer, Cody begins to find his own way, and discovers that a true winner isn't always the one who comes in first. © 2007 Sony Pictures Animation Inc. A childhood classic. Surfs Up is an amazing movie and it saddens me that it only earned grossed 150 Million. The movie is an amazing blend of child, teen, and some adult humor. It's a great story that almost everyone can enjoy. My mom had rented it in the days of blockbuster and never returned it. I figured by the time i found it in a box nearly 11 years later that she must of boughten it. And forgetting what the movie was like i took it out of the godforsaken awfully loud and big case, popped it into my blu-ray player and relived the movie. It has am amazing story with great supporting characters. The movie will speak for itself. 10/10 would recommend. Chicken Joe is the Bro!

With a few moments of bad plotting, mockumentary style, interview elements, shaking cameras, screenplays that came straight out of the news and sports from TV. Surf's Up is an unfunny animated comedy that has an uneven story with rude humor that will even make it confusing to children. There is nothing really entertaining about it either. The voice-acting made the characters sound so realistic and so believable, you will care about them, but unfortunately, with it's mockumentary format and other ideas here, it's realistic approach made this animated film a disconnect to the world of a "not so real" format called "animation." I don't have an opinion on the score, it just has Hawaiian music and surf rock mixed with and orchestra, it does not have the flavor or ingredient that grabs my ears attention. The greatest highlight of this film is the animation, the animation is beautiful and looks life-like with beautiful colorful backgrounds and charming cartoon characters. It's uneven story and shaking cameras made the movie distracting, and most of the characters are bland and are not real positive role models. The only times that are funny is when Cody is screaming, but, it's more chuckles than laughs. The ending has 2 good plot twists though and has an interesting climax. Overall, If you are looking for great family movies about penguins, 'March of the penguins" and 'Happy Feet' is far more recommended for everyone.

I think its really good for all the people that never really were told that they could achieve something in life, people that were never believed in because what they did or who they were was different, i find it extremely relatable, and also funny, i have gone through some of the things cody had like getting bullied because of what you loved. great movie.
