Aarakshan

Dr. Prabhakar Anand (Amitabh Bachchan) is an upstanding college principal of STM. One of his protégés belonging to the low-caste, Deepak (Saif Ali Khan) gets rejected for a job because of his background. Dr. Anand's daughter, Poorbi (Deepika Padukone) and his good friend Sushant (Pratiek Babbar) comfort him. Dr. Anand hires him as a teacher at STM. All's well until the Supreme Court gives the verdict of reservation for backward class students. The court's decision is welcomed by Deepak, but not Sushant, who belongs to the general category and gets rejected from a government college despite his merit. This leads to a fallout between Sushant and Deepak. Dr. Anand intervenes but only ends up aggravating the situation. Where will this growing unrest between the upper and lower caste end?
