About this movie

Meet the Park family, the picture of aspirational wealth. And the Kim family, rich in street smarts but not much else. Be it chance or fate, these two houses are brought together and the Kims sense a golden opportunity. Masterminded by college-aged Ki Woo, the Kim children expediently install themselves as tutor and art therapist to the Parks. Soon, a symbiotic relationship forms between the two families. The Kims provide "indispensable" luxury services while the Parks obliviously bankroll their entire household. When a parasitic interloper threatens the Kims' newfound comfort, a savage, underhanded battle for dominance breaks out, threatening to destroy the fragile ecosystem between the Kims and the Parks. By turns darkly hilarious and heartwrenching, Parasite showcases a modern master at the top of his game.

This has to be one of the worst movies I've seen in a while. The first hour was very boring so I knew that the second half would have to be crazy good to save it...it never got any better. Nice cinematography for sure but that's it. How can this movie win the Oscar for best movie of the year? After watching it, I wouldn't pay any money to watch it. Actually, even if they gave me the $4 I paid to watch it, I still wouldn't watch it. Read a book, look out the window, play with your cat; any of those is better than spending any amount of time watching this thing.

This was a pretty good film. I don't know why it was nominated for so many awards though, but I enjoyed it. The characters are really great- they have you rooting for them even though they make questionable decisions. There was a twist in the middle that I didn't see coming and it's what makes the film so complex. This would be an easy film to write a paper on for school, but it's also one you can enjoy just as a film. I'd recommend it.

It's well written, crafted, shot, and mostly well acted. It's also completely nonsensical, implausible, and capricious. The part that worth noting here is the effect of the movie. Let's not forget that these supposedly sympathetic souls of the poor family are awful...thiefs, murderers, liars, cheats, frauds...they are paid for their labors btw. That people applaud them (or who they represent in reality) for hating that the rich family cares for their own child....it's sick. Not enlightening
