Not that this was supposed to be high theater, but this even gave low brow a bad name. Just a bunch of rambling, disjointed set-pieces set amongst weirdly adult choices of Doors and Beatles music. Minions are supposed to be playful and fun. This movie wasn't. It was strange. It was violent and even in some brief ways inappropriate--call me a prude if you want. In any case, I'm glad I rented this because now my kids know why Daddy didn't buy it for them. He wants them to have good things.

Although the opening premise of the film is intriguing, the film itself for its entirety is very unevenly paced. The beats of the film mesh together to where there is too much action going on on the screen for too long. It becomes hard to take your eyes away due to the constant happenings on the screen. Whereas; it could be argued the films pace matches the character of the minion itself; a film needs room to breathe. Clearly made for keeping kid's attentions.

Hollywood has this new nab in which movies that are successful get a sequel and a spinoff. Every movie now gets a sequel and spinoff. The sequel and spinoff are guaranteed to fail dramatically. Minions proved that. Just a messy movie and quite disgusting actually. There was a lot of death and violence with content aimed at teens and adults - slip knots. It wasn't good, it was way below that. Despicable Me is ruined, thanks to the spinoff. Of course, Despicable Me 3 and Minions 2 are coming out soon.
