About this movie

Walt Disney Animation Studios' "Raya and the Last Dragon" travels to the fantasy world of Kumandra, where humans and dragons lived together in harmony long ago. But when an evil force threatened the land, the dragons sacrificed themselves to save humanity. Now, 500 years later, that same evil has returned and it's up to a lone warrior, Raya, to track down the legendary last dragon to restore the fractured land and its divided people. However, along her journey, she'll learn that it'll take more than a dragon to save the world-it's going to take trust and teamwork as well. "Raya and the Last Dragon" features the voices of Kelly Marie Tran as Raya, a warrior whose wit is as sharp as her blade, and Awkwafina as the magical, mythical, self-deprecating dragon named Sisu. Characters also include a street-savvy 10-year-old entrepreneur named Boun, the formidable giant Tong and a thieving toddler Noi with her band of Ongis.

This movie for rent is about 4.99 or 5.99 and I'm glad that I bought it like that. A lot of people point out that since this movie is a kid's movie, the lesson of the story to "trust" shouldn't be so reprimanded as much. I highly disagree. When we the audience watch Disney movies it is for not only kids but for the family. Speaking from the perspective of the family, this movie is very inadequate and had too much clout and hype within itself. We see a character who cannot trust the world for a good reason but the characters around her constantly enables her to trust. Now this in turn unfortunately gives the main character so many hardships because of this awful advice that Disney and this movie is giving out. It is one thing to be trusting and another thing to be dumb and blindingly naive. To tell children to be trustful of everyone is like me saying believe in everything that Ted Bundy tells you. This movie was too rushed, I felt that it didn't have the lackluster, it wasn't as visual, and I do understand that for a movie that came out during the pandemic and Disney's horrendous remix movies, this movie ironically is the best. The antagonist is forgiven almost immediately and there were too many plot holes that I can't let alone describe. There are commentators that do say that this is the movie for SEA representation, but I think that it would have been better to either show this movie two or three years later with better editing or scrap the movie script completely and do another one. Representation does not matter when the plot is both confusing and has too many holes. Again I do understand that because of the pandemic this movie came out like this, but I expect a certain degree of perfection especially from a corporation who tries to be as diverse as possible. I wish that this movie wasn't as hacked or chewed and spitted out. It would have been better to at least not release this movie to the public or edit it and release it three years later.

It was entertaining but there were some terrible choices made by the director and writers (especially the baby & monkies). It was a bit like Moana but without the depth, the music or the same level of heart. Instead of a "love" theme, it was centered around trust. This was a nice change from the American themes. I'm glad I waited as it wouldn't have been worth buying.

Fun and colorful. A lack of real villain. So it never really felt dire. But, Fun. Funny how no one is allowed to be white in this XD Don't like the idea that every actually wants the best for the world. Obviously not realistic at all. Just be sure your kids know this is fantasy and not the way the real world works Another note. Amazing that Disney is able to avoid so many copyright laws because of their deep pockets. would have loved an original story. Also, don't get mad about the price. This is 2021. Plenty of free options with ads on the side. lol
