About this movie

Academy Award® winner Gary Oldman gives a “towering performance”(Richard Lawson, Vanity Fair) in acclaimed director Joe Wright’s soaring drama DARKEST HOUR. As Hitler’s forces storm across the European landscape and close in on the United Kingdom, Winston Churchill (Oldman) is elected the new Prime Minister. With his party questioning his every move, and King George VI (Ben Mendelsohn) skeptical of his new political leader, it is up to Churchill to lead his nation and protect them from the most dangerous threat ever seen. Also starring Academy Award® nominee Kristin Scott Thomas and Lily James, DARKEST HOUR is a powerful, inspirational drama.

"Okay" movie, but there have been many other similar ones prior to it. And if you know about history, then essentially, you've seen/heard this movie time and time again already. However, it is decently entertaining and worth watching. Just don't expect to be blown away, and if you are then you need to brush up on your history lessons.

I want to write a review on the google reviews you see. Please, take it with a grain of salt. If you saw a short preview for the movie and thought to yourself "Oh! That looks like it might be a good movie." then go watch it. You're taste in movies (yes, I'm talking to you...the person reading this) is probably vastly different than the person who is writing the review. It's like that South Park episode where Kyle's dad thinks he's a professional food critic because he posts on Yelp. Like, no dude, when you trash a movie just because YOU think there are some major flaws in it, doesn't mean you're right. Seriously, pay the 2 or 3 dollars to rent it, see if it's good and if you like it, buy it. But if you don't, just say that it wasn't your type of movie. I've seen these types of reviews for movies that were seriously amazing ("The Dark Knight" with Heath Ledger) and people were still trashing them.

Hmm. Glorification of a Genocidal Maniac shown here as a brave and courageous person with great critical thinking and reasoning abilities isn't something I would watch. Why can't they make a movie where they actually show what this persons decisions did to other nations knowing exactly what the outcome would be......Mass starvation, death, disease, destruction of economies that Britain relied upon to fuel their military industrial revolution at the expense of other nations. Why can't they stop fantasising about this and focus on the truths of a persons actions.
