Divorce, The Complete Series

(Series Premiere) Frances and Robert--a middle-aged couple in the suburbs of New York City--try to figure out if their marriage is worth saving after a shocking event at their friend Diane's 50th birthday party makes them take a hard look at their own lives.

Frances rushes to intercept Robert before he tells the kids that she's divorcing him. Everyone gathers at the hospital to support Diane, as she waits for news on Nick's condition. In the midst of the chaos, Frances considers finally signing a lease to open her long-planned art gallery.

Robert and Frances attend couples therapy in an effort to see if their marriage is salvageable. Frances gets advice from Dallas, while Robert vents at work. At home, tensions mount as Frances and Robert try to maintain a facade of normalcy for the children. Frances arrives at an epiphany.

In hopes of keeping their split amicable, Frances and Robert meet with a mediator. Frances confides in a co-worker, and Robert gets some surprising financial news.

Robert discovers his lawyer's experience doesn't align with his current needs. Blindsided when she learns that her husband already has legal representation, Frances opens up a little too much in her initial meeting with Max Brodkin, a seasoned midtown divorce lawyer. Diane, Dallas and Frances head to an influential artist's show in hopes that Frances will make a connection for her new gallery, and Robert pitches Nick on his new idea.

Hoping to keep things as normal as possible for the kids, Robert proposes a joint trip to Frances' parents' house during Christmas. Diane and Dallas each endure awkward Christmas Eves; Julian gets an unexpected visitor.

After his failed attempts to 'get back in the saddle,' Robert gets some eye-opening dating advice from new lawyer Tony Silvercreek. Floored when Max shares info about Robert's financial statements, Frances ends up confronting Robert.

Frances is inspired to put her hat in the ring for a new job, but Dallas warns it might cost her dearly if she gets it. Nick raises a possibility with Diane that she thought had already been put to rest. Frances is perplexed about how happy Robert seems to be despite the divorce.

Robert's lawyer insinuates that Frances is a negligent mother. Frances' lawyer encourages her to get more involved, so she drops in on a parents' committee meeting at school. Diane and Nick throw another party, where Dallas finds herself pursued by Robert's plus-one.

Season One Finale. Tensions between Frances and Robert ease after Lila has an emergency, but a cutthroat move by Frances' new lawyer sends Robert on a vengeful path. An encounter at the grocery store crystalizes Diane's feelings about motherhood. Frances makes a confession to her father at her gallery opening and is surprised by an unexpected visitor.

Season Two Premiere. After finally signing divorce papers, a financially strapped Robert looks for work and a new living situation, while Frances battles insomnia and her newly complicated relationship with her children. Diane and Nick's new communication technique leads him to make an unexpected decision. Dallas continues her secret fling with Robert's lawyer, Tony Silvercreek.

Frances is forced to deal with Lila's growing resentment toward her. After his coworkers encourage him to get back in the game, Robert reconnects with Janice, who tries to help him live out a fantasy. Diane blindsides Frances with a setup, and Dallas attempts to call things off with Tony Silvercreek.

After helping her new friend, Andrew appraise art, an inspired Frances tries to track down an unknown painter. Diane attempts to ignore her issues with Nick by throwing herself into the gallery. Sparks fly when Robert shows his house to a realtor.

When Robert's dad falls ill, Robert and Frances reunite in Ohio, where they reminisce about happier times, and deal with Robert's overbearing sister. Back in Hastings-on-Hudson, Tom jumps at the chance to chauffeur Diane around town in her luxury car.

Frances learns that Robert has a new woman in his life, and enlists Diane and Dallas to get intel on her before Lila's 13th birthday party.

After Robert finds Tom in a compromising position, Frances and Robert re-visit their marriage counselor to set new ground rules for the kids. Frances weighs how serious her own new relationship with Andrew should be. Jackie seeks out Dallas' advice during a chance encounter at Diane's country club.

Frances spots the dashing art bigwig Skip Zakarian at an auction, and takes the opportunity to invite him to Sylvia's upcoming show, where he shows interest in more than art. A successful sale inspires Jackie to propose that she and Robert team up on a house-flipping business, but he has qualms about the idea.

Season Two Finale. Robert and Jackie move toward a new step in their real-estate business. Frances faces the fallout of a successful opening at her gallery, and enlists Robert's help with a home-repair project. A returned favor from Frances sets Diane on a bender, which comes back to haunt her at another eventful party.

Season Three Premiere. Frances and Robert, having both moved on, discover that their new lives are much more complicated than anticipated. Diane has her first face to face with Nick. Dallas continues her quest to connect with her resentful son, Cole.

Tensions escalate as Robert and Jackie's wedding approaches. Robert admits to pre-wedding jitters and Frances plans a quick weekend getaway with Henry. After a therapy session gone awry, Dallas considers what's next for her. Diane's future looks bright as she snags a big-spender at her new job.

Tom's anti-college college essay causes Frances and Robert to come to blows regarding their co-parenting styles. Robert's sister Cathy shows up unannounced, wreaking havoc. Diane bonds with a young woman at the store.

Frances and Henry share a meal with Robert and Jackie. Things go from bad to worse and both relationships are strained. Frances has a big day at work. Dallas must deal with yet another troublesome client. Diane catches the attention of an older man.

Robert and Frances are thrown together for a weekend as they chaperone Lila's away-game. Robert has his hands full trying to keep rowdy teens in line, while also clocking Frances' new flirtation. Diane considers a proposition from Gordon. Dallas discovers that she and her fellow therapists share a common problem.

Season Three Finale. As each of their relationships reach a moment of truth, Frances and Robert face the reality of post-divorce life. Frances urges her new colleagues to break out of their comfort zones. With her career in jeopardy, Dallas discovers what she really wants. Diane reconsiders her relationship with Gordon.
