Inside Hampton Court Palace

With 1,300 rooms, Hampton Court is one of the largest palaces in Britain, and it's not just the building that's enormous. The outside is a vast expanse of gardens, ponds, parks, and stables. We follow a day of activity to see how its team of warders, its wildlife officer, and its head coachman tend to their visitors, royal deer herds, and rare Shire horses. We also leave the present day to examine the private lives of the Tudors, focusing on Jane Seymour and the immense challenges she faced to produce a male heir for Henry VIII.

Hampton Court sits beside the River Thames and is surrounded by 750 acres of beautiful parkland, including 60 acres of stunning gardens, all of which need to be maintained. In this episode, we meet the extraordinary people who tend the palace grounds as well as the oldest surviving hedge maze in the world. Then we enjoy an all-access tour of the estate and visit some the warders' favorite spots, including the spectacular Great Hall, built for one of Henry VIII's six wives, and a spooky corridor, which is haunted by another.
