Sean and Beverly Lincoln are a happily married English couple, who are also the creators of a hit British TV show. Their life seems complete. That is until a hugely powerful and charismatic US network president persuades them to move to LA to recreate their show for American television. It soon becomes clear that the network president has never even seen their show. To make matters worse, he insists that they replace their brilliant lead actor, an erudite Royal Shakespeare veteran, with... Matt LeBlanc!

Sean and Beverly are still reeling from the network’s decision to cast Matt LeBlanc as the star of their show. But when they meet him at a swanky LA dinner party at Merc’s house, Matt couldn’t be more charming or flattering about their show. Unfortunately, over time the natural animosity between Matt and Beverly rises to the surface, and Beverly learns just how much you don’t want the former Friend as an enemy.

Beverly can’t stand Matt and the feeling is mutual. As it’s all she can do not to throttle the star of her show, Beverly tells her husband “he’s yours”. Sean and Matt end up spending the day together, including an extended adventure in Las Vegas. Soon the two guys have bonded, leaving Beverly feeling excluded by her husband’s new bro-mance. Later, in a confrontation with Matt, Beverly learns just how “big” a star Matt Leblanc actually is.

Sean and Beverly have to retrieve Matt from a seedy bar outside of LA so that the paparazzi waiting outside won’t see him driving home drunk. What follows is an all-night road trip which takes the trio from a run-in with a paparazzo to Matt’s ex-wife’s house and finally to his sons’ bedroom where Matt is forced to confront the mess he’s made of his life. The transformative evening even manages to bring Beverly and Matt closer together. The question is: for how long?

Sean’s infatuation with the lovely “Pucks!” actress Morning Randolph is given an opportunity to blossom when Matt invites the two of them to a charity benefit. Sean realizes that his attraction to her may in fact be mutual. Meanwhile, Beverly and Carol share a joint and commiserate about the men in their lives. At the end of the night, Sean has a difficult choice to make, and Beverly learns that she has more to worry about her husband and the actress than even she realized.

Convinced that Sean is having an affair with Morning, Beverly packs a bag and leaves, intending to head back to London. However, in her distress, she is unaware that she’s driving on the left hand side of the road. Beverly doesn’t realize her mistake until a head on collision -- a collision which leads her down a road with even more dire consequences.

Deeply regretting her tryst with Matt, Beverly returns home to find her husband waiting with open arms. She desperately hopes to put this ugly chapter behind them. The dreadful “Pucks!” pilot wraps; Sean and Beverly prepare to return to London. However, a final goodbye between Matt and Sean takes an unexpected turn involving a missing Jaguar, a red-nosed reindeer and the smell of cinnamon.

The story picks up four months after the end of the first season, where the impact of Beverly’s tryst with Matt is still being felt. Sean and Beverly are now living apart. Beverly holds out hopes that the marriage can be repaired, but thus far Sean’s having none of it. He also has no interest in resuming his former friendship with Matt. However, the three must remain on their best professional behavior, as they are forced to work together every day on their show Pucks!

Matt misses his friendship with Sean. It frustrates him that the Englishman is still angry with him for sleeping with his wife and in attempts to win him back - Matt buys Sean a flashy convertible sports car. Although tempted to take it, Sean is determined to stick to his principles. The next morning, he’s appalled when Beverly turns up to the set in a matching car. Later that day, Jamie Lapidus surprises Matt by paying a visit to his dressing room.

When Merc’s father dies, the race is on to find the most impressive way of sending one’s condolences. With Pucks! ratings in a freefall, they are urged to find the most extravagant way possible to impress Merc in his time of need. Swept up in the pressure to curry favour with Merc, Sean and Beverly find themselves accompanying Matt and Morning to the star-studded funeral.

The ratings for Pucks! are a disaster. Carol informs Sean and Beverly that there’s one positive sign: network research shows that the students in Pucks! are a hit with a key younger demographic. Sean and Beverly are ordered to cut Matt’s part down and write more for the boys. It doesn’t take long for Matt to notice his scenes are shrinking, while floppy-haired teen heartthrob Stoke is getting more and more storylines. Sean and Beverly are forced to come clean, and Matt is livid.

Matt's stalker Labia becomes Sean’s Facebook friend and tracks the guys down at a restaurant. When Matt spots her, he immediately throws her out, reminding her about the restraining order that states she can’t come within 500 feet of him. Later, Matt tells Sean and Beverly that Labia’s been obsessed with him for years. He finally had to take legal action to keep her away; but only after sleeping with her first. Meanwhile, it’s the fifth anniversary of Merc and Carol’s affair. He plans a lavish trip to Cabo to celebrate. Jamie, informed that her husband will be "away on business," takes the opportunity to suggest a dirty weekend with Matt in Napa.

Merc persuades Matt to try and get one of his Friends cast mates to guest star on Pucks! to help improve the show’s dismal ratings. It quickly proves to be a daunting task. Meanwhile, it’s not just the ratings that are sagging. The special effects department is forced to step in to help conceal Morning’s fallen cheek implant. As if Sean and Beverly don’t have enough to worry about, Matt asks them to write his speech for Merc’s upcoming ‘Man of the Year’ event. It’s a thankless job that turns out to be far more difficult than it first appeared.

Sean and Beverly are called into Merc’s office. It seems that the network has real concerns about Matt’s recent weight gain. The network is convinced that Matt’s expanding waistline is affecting the ratings and demands that Sean and Beverly confront Matt about his additional poundage. The star doesn’t take the news well. Meanwhile, after much coaxing, Beverly agrees to go on a date with Morning’s charming, handsome brother Rob.

Sean and Beverly are horrified to discover Labia lounging in Matt’s dressing room. They’re even more appalled when Matt admits to a drunken booty call with his stalker the night before. Matt tries to downplay the situation but Beverly and Sean are having none of it. If Matt’s ex-wife finds out he’s let his stalker into his life, she’ll never let him see his kids again. Over at the network, Merc is fighting for his career. A press story has revealed that he developed the smash hit “talking dog” comedy, but sold it to a rival network. Things become even tenser when Carol gets a call from the head of the other network, Elliot Salad.

While on a hike with Carol, Beverly accidentally lets slip that Jamie Lapidus has been having an affair with Matt. Carol is thrilled but Beverly makes her promise to keep the news to herself. That promise is soon broken. It’s the night that Merc is to receive his ‘Man of the Year’ award and as he and Carol are leaving the office for the event, she can’t resist telling him about Jamie’s affair with Matt.

Matt continues to fight for custody of his children, trying to convince his ex-wife to forgive him for sleeping with his stalker. Meanwhile, Sean and Beverly are back together. But they soon discover that it’s not so easy to heal old wounds, especially when additional secrets are revealed about their time apart. Over at the network, Carol’s ambitions are dealt a cruel blow.

Matt continues to fight for custody of his kids; a situation he has only made worse by getting a DUI with them in the car. Sean is still reeling from the news that Beverly spent the night with ruggedly handsome Rob. While Carol falls under the spell of her charismatic new boss.

Matt tries to get Sean and Beverly to kill him off “Pucks!” so that he can pursue an exciting career opportunity. Meanwhile, Sean and Beverly attempt to reignite their romantic spark. While over at the network, Castor struggles with plunging ratings and his equally dire mental state.

Matt’s career takes an unexpected turn -- and not a good one -- when he goes to appear on The Tonight Show. Merc comes in to pitch new shows to Carol. Oh, and there’s a devastating earthquake in Peru.

The future of “Pucks!” hangs in the balance as the network hosts its annual party for the Television Press. Sean and Beverly’s romantic future is looking equally tenuous. A visit to a sex therapist may only make things worse. Meanwhile, Merc Lapidus has stolen all of his blind ex-wife’s artwork, and Matt is forced to come to her rescue.

“Pucks!” is finally pulled from the schedule. Although not officially cancelled, the writing is clearly on the wall for the doomed hockey comedy. Everyone reacts in different ways: Sean is in denial, Beverly is mentally packing her bags, while Matt finds solace in the arms of a 19 year old super-fan.

Beverly prepares to return to England, while Sean hangs onto hopes of keeping his Hollywood dream alive. Matt is crushed to learn that his former stalker is no longer obsessed with him. Carol is equally despondent when her dreams for a future with Castor are dashed.

Filming on “Pucks!” is drawing to a close and everyone is focused on what they will do next.

As interest in “The Opposite of Us” intensifies, Beverly struggles to keep Sean on course and return to London. Matt has his own battles to fight when he learns that NBC expects him to audition for the lead in a new drama pilot.

Sean and Beverly's Hollywood career refuses to die, as they're dragged back from London to make six more episodes of "Pucks!". Plus, Matt gets some very disturbing news about his finances while Carol once again lobbies to run the network.

Several months have passed since the end of the last episode. Matt’s show “The Box” is now a runaway hit. Unfortunately for Matt, this means he is now only thought of as a gameshow host, his years as an actor completely forgotten. Matt’s agent tries to persuade him this is all for the best: “Can’t you just think of it as reinventing yourself?” Matt shoots back: “As a shittier version of me?!” The success of “The Box” also means that Matt must have daily contact with Merc Lapidus. If anything, the animosity between the two has only gotten worse over time. As Matt is the star of the show, he would seem to have some leverage over his producer. But then he makes a decision that puts him right in the palm of Merc’s sweaty hand, Sean and Beverly are forced to work for Sean’s loathsome ex-partner Tim. Helen has put Tim in charge of “The Opposite of Us”. So Sean and Beverly must endure his utter lack of humor or talent as they watch him slowly destroy their show. Carol has been in a tailspin since she walked away from her position at the network. Unable to find another job, she spends her days at home smoking dope and watching real estate shows. No amount of urging from Beverly can get her to leave the house. So Beverly brings her bagels.

Matt’s tryst with the Danika, the girl in the box, has gone viral. By the next morning, the sex tape has already gotten millions of hits. The network is freaking out. No amount of damage control can contain this. Sponsors are pulling their ads. The FCC is threatening to take action against “The Box”. And yet it’s Christmas morning for Merc who hopes to use this as the excuse to get rid of Matt once and for all. At first Matt refuses to accept the gravity of the situation. It’s all his agent and publicist can do to make him realize his little dalliance may cost him both his job and his reputation. Matt tries to take matters into his own hands by calling Elliot Salad, the head of the network, to plead his case. He ends up getting much more than he bargained for. Meanwhile, life goes on for the rest of the world. Sean and Beverly endure a disastrous casting session with Tim. And Carol gets stoned with her maid.

Matt is back on top. He’s leveraged his newfound celebrity to get a guaranteed new series from the network. He tries taking pitches from various writers, but ends up convinced that his best chance for success is to do another show with Sean and Beverly. The Brits are reluctant to abandon “The Opposite of Us”, even though they’re still miserable working for Tim. So Matt continues to woo them. A large stuffed gorilla is involved. Meanwhile, the fallout from Matt’s tryst with the girl from “The Box” isn’t over. He gets a call from his ex-wife Diane. It seems his two young sons have seen the sex tape on line. Diane insists that Matt talk about it with his boys. It quickly becomes clear that father-son chats are not Matt’s strength. Beverly convinces Carol to finally leave her house. After weeks curled up on the sofa, nursing her depression, watching real estate shows, Carol ventures outside. Unfortunately, a simple trip to the donut shop ends up being more traumatizing than she ever could have imagined. Carol is convinced her life is over. However, a misdialed phone call leads to a life-changing evening.

Back on the hiking trail for the first time in months, Carol confesses to Beverly that she has again found happiness in Merc Lapidus’s arms. As appalled as Beverly is, she agrees to support her friend. Her support is quickly challenged when she discovers that Merc is two-timing Carol with surgically-enhanced actress Morning Randolph. To make matters worse, Morning reveals that she and Merc have recently become engaged. Beverly can’t imagine how she’s going to break this news to Carol. Sean insists that she shouldn’t tell Carol at all. It can only end badly. As Sean tells Beverly, “There’s a reason ‘hug the messenger’ is not an expression.” It’s a work weekend for Sean and Beverly. Matt takes them to his ranch to try and come up with a new series for him. No surprise, having Matt as part of their creative process in no way makes it easier for the two writers. The weekend quickly devolves into rural chaos, involving gunplay, horse dung and Matt’s ranch nemesis, a wild boar.

Carol reveals to Beverly that she’s pregnant. Even more significant, she’s planning on keeping the baby. Beverly now feels she has no choice: she breaks the news to Carol that Merc is not only sleeping with, but engaged to Morning Randolph. Carol is obviously distraught, but much of her anger is directed at Beverly for withholding this information for over a week. Meanwhile, Matt, Sean and Beverly are still struggling to come up with an idea for a new show. In the midst of their brainstorming, Matt’s phone rings. It’s his father’s girlfriend calling with news that Matt’s father has just dropped dead while shopping at Target. Matt is suddenly thrust into a nightmare of logistics, as he — and a reluctant Sean and Beverly — try to deal with the disposal of his father’s remains. Whatever pain or grief Matt might be feeling must take a back seat to the enormous hassle of his father’s passing. Death was never more of a pain in the ass.

Sean and Beverly pitch their new show to Helen who buys it on the spot. The celebration is short-lived when they find out that Matt is demanding a credit as co-creator. Sean and Beverly refuse to give it to him. They insist he doesn’t deserve it. They came up with the premise for the show, created the characters, developed the storyline; Matt just supplied office supplies! Matt is equally incensed when he hears they’re balking. He feels completely entitled as he was in the room when they came up with it. Also he bought all the pads and pens! Neither side is willing to give in. The conflict becomes increasingly fraught, finally coming to a head in a very public way. Even though Carol’s affair with Merc is over, she’s determined to keep the baby. She’s decided to leave television, move home to Michigan and raise the child on her own. What will she do for money? She’s suing Helen and the network for sexual harassment.

Sean and Beverly have just learned that Matt has passed on the show they created for him. However, he has offered them no explanation. He refuses to answer their calls or emails or texts. So Sean and Beverly are forced to go to “The Box” to confront him in person. When it becomes clear that their show with Matt is truly dead, the two Brits must figure out what lies ahead for their careers and their lives. Carol continues to pursue her lawsuit against Helen and the network. But an encounter at her deposition may take her life in an entirely unexpected direction.
