Getting On
Darkly funny, tough and compassionate, `Getting On' follows the daily lives of nurses as they go about their routine tasks. It's set at the backwater of an NHS hospital - the women's geriatric ward, a depository for dying and discombobulated patients. Return-to-practice nurse Kim Wilde tries to employ common sense and compassion in her dealings with the elderly and their families. In charge of the ward is Sister Flixter, but she's drowning in paperwork and relies on nurse Wilde to keep things running smoothly. The patients, however, are the least of their problems, especially compared to stool-obsessed ward doctor Pippa Moore and male matron Hilary Loftus, who likes to do his job by the book.
