About this movie

An aging comedian tours the California desert, lost in a cycle of third-rate venues, novelty tourist attractions, and vain attempts to reach his estranged daughter. By day, he slogs through the barren landscape, inadvertently alienating every acquaintance. At night, he seeks solace in the animation of his onstage persona. Fueled by the promise of a lucrative Hollywood engagement and the possibility of rekindling a relationship with his daughter, he trudges through a series of increasingly surreal and volatile encounters.

Entertainment is a big improvement over Rick Alverson's last film, The Comedy (2012). Entertainment is a companion film of sorts to Neil Turkington's stand up comic act as Neil Hamburger. It's a bleak, somewhat creepy road trip comedy that has the best acting and photography in any Alverson film thus far. It's not for everyone. But I found it to be artistic, throught provoking, and overall very good.

Very disturbing, but I love it. If you enjoyed The Comedy or are a fan of Tim and Eric I think you can appreciate what this film has to offer.
