Just like Little shop of horrors (1986), This action thriller is a highly entertaining diversion of darkness and heartfulness and goes in for graphic comic-book style. "The Crow" is dark, but in a way that is more gut-wrenching. It also has emotionally strong substance, and has a more gothic approach. It is also seen as a horrific crime movie. Every single character is memorable and they have some gripping background; Eric Draven (Brandon Lee) is a very likable character, he may be a violent warrior of death and destruction, but he only uses that violent side towards bad guys, and not to mention he is a persistent superhero that can disappear, he has a lot of heart, and he does not tolerate anyone doing illegal things they are addicted to like smoking and drugs. Eric has his feathered friend: a crow that brought Eric back to life from the grave and becomes Eric's trusty sidekick and his guide to the suspects that are responsible for the murders of his girlfriend named "Shelly." But there is more to this intelligent bird than just a sidekick and a guide, as Eric's crow watches him fight bad guys, it shows that this crow is his angel that has faith in Eric. That crow is his guiding angel that brings Eric back from the dead, and that is what adds some astonishing spirituality to the narrative. Also, if you mess with the crow, you mess with Eric, and Eric will fight vigorously. I was genuinely intimidated by the main antagonist of the film; Top Dollar (Michael Wincott), he is a sadistic crime lord with a menacing raspy voice and a goal to kill Eric after he returns to life to exact revenge on him and his minions. Top Dollar's minions are a group of wicked gangsters with a joy to be together as a lethal team and they play around with their addictions with crazy glee. Sarah (Rochelle Davis) is a brave teenage girl with a touching friendship with Eric and Shelly. Unfortunately, Sarah has a mother that is engaged to a wicked drug dealer named funboy. Let's not forget that she is also kind to animals like her cat and Eric's crow. The animals were treated with great care and respect (no animal is abused or harmed in the making of this film). And Sergeant Albrecht (Ernie Hudson) is a good-natured and compassionate officer. The entertainment value is razor-sharp because of the astounding craftsmanship; The direction by Alex Proyas contains brilliant timing within it's structure. There was never a dull moment where Alex loses his ideas to provide dynamic flair. The dialogue and script-writing is clever and deep, and some of the lines made me laugh so hard, because it is so witty. The movie has a gripping screenplay that contains traumatizing flashbacks, intense passages, and striking imagery that is unforgettable. The action hits like a ton of bricks; it has authentic choreography, quick camera cuts, a dark thunderous tone, and has one of the best final climaxes ever spawned and I have ever experienced. The somber and haunting music score is composed by a New Zealand musician named Graeme Revell, and his score has so much effective power that grabs my ears attention. The score really emphasizes the emotional value and the storytelling. The acting is absolutely amazing; the actors and actresses who played the protagonists brings so much credibility to their melodramatic performances that were directed very well, the actors that played the antagonists provides witty crazy performances, and Michael Wincott delivers a cool and sophisticated performance. I had a blast watching the crow and when it was over I feel wowed. This film intrigued me and entertained me consistently. This is one of those movies that made me shocked, made me laugh, and made my heart warm up. In conclusion: A mesmerizing and haunting powerhouse that is made with striking style, compelling substance, slick wit, and engaging heart. Highly recommended!

This is an amazing movie. I could watch it again and again. I give my ultimate respect to the makers, both of the movie and the comics. The acting was on a whole other level. Brandon Lee's performance of Draven was by far my favorite antihero character I've seen. The emotions he showed allowed me to sympathize with his character. I've heard rumors about them remaking this movie, and I hope they burn in hell if they do. NOBODY can replace Brandon Lee as Draven or The Crow. EVER. End of Story.

The Crow was the first of it's kind to give that dark edge realism that change the way they made superhero/anti-hero movies because if you notice after the Crow those types of movies started to get that realism not the movie sound stage look like the early 90's Batman which were good movies also back then. Brandon just like his father Bruce Lee captured the hearts of many with his first major hollywood movie. Brandon Lee and all the other actors in the movie delivered great performances. THECROW4LIFE
