I feel that what point the movie was trying to make was muddied; making me in a position to neither root for the man or girl; both being of some evil. you could kind of see in a blurred attempt for "pedo-beware" but really the girl portrayed wasn't a hero in my eyes and in fact just as sick only in a different light. Speaking as a female; I was looking forward to a good movie instead I couldn't even root for the girl in the story because as stated above and below. wouldn't the world be a safer place if all men had their manhood cut off if they desired young girls. However, men are visual so unless you can replace their thoughts and desires, cutting off their genitals isn't going to make them less of a pedophile. How else to explain the men who don't even have feeling in that region yet still enjoy strip clubs or what have you. That's a whole other opinion though such as how our media makes it "okay" & easy for men because "sex sales". Unfortunately, a simple castration *in my opinion* wouldn't change the thoughts in someone's mind. NO glory story here just thankful I rented it so I could fast forward...hoping to gain a better point of view.

Hard candy plays a tired old tune so well you would swear it was brand new. The cinematography is a master class in color and atmosphere, the acting is personable and authentic feeling and the story has a great twist. Its a classic flip on its head kind of tail where the traditional "victim" is a little monster and the traditional monster is her "victim". You will feel uncomfortable and a little sick and you wont be entirely sure who (if anyone) you can cheer for. But you wont soon forget it.

One of the worst movies I have ever watched. She was so disturbed that I actually found myself rooting for the guy. He seemed much saner than her. I also did not like the reference to Roman Polanski. I am sick of seeing his name in a line-up of so-called child molesters. His "victim" has even been on television saying she totally forgave him and if he thought she was older and they were both drinking or doing drugs it makes it all possible. Pedophiles are always with multiple victims. I never heard of any other "case" with him. He was also always with women before and after (remember Sharon Tate?). He has been married (with children) for many years. I think people should leave him alone. I am not I repeat not a defender of child abuse. However I do think that false allegations are just as bad as abuse. Anyway don't waste your money on this movie.
